The apparatus consisting essntially of the following:

The apparatus consists mainly of following parts :
Vacuum Clamp System : It consists of a hollow circular metal ring having an outside diameter of 21.5 cm and inside diameter 12.5 cm. A 710 Microns IS sieves cloth is soldered on the 1.5 mm recess at the top surface of the ring. The hollow interior of the ring will connect to the vacuum pump. Electromagnet : It is a capable of supplying 1 Kg. mass for use in supporting and releasing the dart assembly. It will be equipped with centering device to ensuring reproducible drop.
Dart : One no. dart is provided with instrument. The darts are made of aluminum/nylon and hemispherical head diameter are 3.8 cm and 5.08 cm along to accommodate mass. The shafts are made of aluminum with a 1.25 cm long steel tip at the end of supporting it in the electric magnet. The electromagnet is fixed to an adjustable bracket, which can be fixed to different height on a support on a support shaft.

The rolling ball tack test is fast, easy to run and little operator training. This test is intended primarily for quality control use since it demonstrates good reproducibility within a single laborator and ability to detect batch to batch variations accurately if adhesives film thickness is held constant.
The tester measures the comparative tack of pressure sensitive adhesives by a rolling ball and is most appropriate for low-tack adhesives.

Tack is determined by measuring the distance that the ball travels across the adhesive before stopping.
