Cobb Tester

Overview

Cobb Tester is extremely useful for measuring water absorption of paper perpendicularly to the surface of the sheet of paper and board in a given time. Well known sizing test by COBB Test has been accepted by I.S.I.BPBMA and TAPPI Standard . The water absorption of a substance is defined as the mass of water absorbed in a specific time by a 1 sq. meter sample of paper, board or corrugated board, under standardized condition.

The Cobb tester consists a flat metal plate and rubber mat for placing the paper sample. Metal Cylinder with open ends with arrangement of placing over the rubber mat and clamped firmly to make watertight.
